About Us

tzruns have been organising marathon races in the UK since 2011. We successfully hosted two track marathons in our first year - the Royal Berkshire Marathon in Newbury and the Andover Marathon. In 2012 we organised three marathons - a limited-entry test event at Cyclopark, followed by the inaugural Kent Roadrunner Marathon in June. We also staged the one-off Woolwich Foot Tunnel Marathon, to help the 100 Marathon Club celebrate the tunnel's 100th anniversary.

The Kent Roadrunner Marathon has been a sold-out annual event every year since 2012.   The Roadrunner event featured the UK's first “mega medal” for its finishers in 2013 and the medal size hasn't stop growing annually since!   The tzruns team consistently deliver high-quality events which focus on value for money, including:  big bespoke medals,  free professional race photographs, free beer, world-class venue, gold-standard organisation, UKA permits.

The finishers' medal for our 2012 Kent Roadrunner Marathon was a hefty 137g -- outweighing the medal for the Virgin London Marathon (a mere 84g).  The 2013-14 Kent Roadrunner Marathon finishers' medals were bigger still, measuring 120*100mm, and weighing nearly 300g.  For the 2015 event the now-iconic Roadrunner medal was up to 142*140mm and 425g.  The medals will not be getting smaller in 2016…!

We're delighted that our Kent Roadrunner Marathon is so popular, having been recognised as one of the top-ten marathons in the UK by Runner's World magazine for three years (2012-2014). We also won a RW award for the course's PB potential, and the marathon was one of the top-ten races of 2013 by users at the FetchEveryone website.

tzruns have also organised events for Winchester & District AC including the Track2Track relay which saw ten teams of runners complete a non-stop relay from the Olympic Stadium in London to the Winchester Sports Stadium.

We also provide high-quality event photography at home and abroad.

tzruns is fully affiliated to England Athletics (EA) and UK Athletics (UKA). The Kent Roadrunner Marathon has held a full UKA race permit since the 2013 race. The race results will appear on The Power of 10 and runbritain websites. We are also proud to be a member of the British Association of Road Races. All our races are fully licensed and are covered by liability insurance.

Race Director (Ian J Berry-Bowers): Email: info@kentroadrunner.com

Ian has recorded marathon and 100km personal bests of 2:39 and 8:12 respectively. He recently completed his one-hundredth marathon - see the photos here.  He's recorded over a dozen marathon victories and countless bad races too!!! He is also a passionate parkrun advocate, having completed over one-hundred parkruns at twenty-seven different locations.

His wife, Sandra Berry-Bowers, is multiple Scottish 100km champion, two-times Ridgeway Challenge (85 miles) champion and has represented Great Britain at both 100km road running and the Trail World Championships.

They are both runners whose desire is to organise events for fellow runners that are enjoyable and safe. Having participated in many hundreds of races themselves they have applied their vast experience to make tzruns a success.

A full archive of tzruns photographs is available at the following link. Included are images from past tzruns organised marathons as well as other events where we have offered photographic services.

Well done Mr Race Director. Great organisation, perfectly sarcastic pre-race speech, all made worthwhile by the bestest ever medal.
